You know those ads that appear in sites. How can I completely block them without downloading any external software? Please dont say use mozilla or any other browser. I just need to know how to block in chrome and I.E 8. I do have an anti virus

How Do I Stop Google Going To Local Version When Using Internet On My Laptop Overseas?
When traveling to other countries I notice that when I type in google.com to go to the homepage, it will detect that I am in a foreign country & will take me to the local version. For example when in Thailand, it redirects me to google.co.th & everything is in Thai script. Can I specify a specific domain I would like google to take me to, no matter which country I am in? And how does google do this, by detecting the IP address I am using?
